I’m fatima.

Peace be with You.

As a baby, my dad would call me Tamatem (tomato in Arabic), because of my round, red face. I believe that from that moment, my fondness for food sprouted into an everlasting love. For as long as I can remember food has been an anchor in my life and a key ingredient in shaping my identities. I am a cook, food & health coach, storyteller, huntress, and all-around foodie. I love food; I love eating it, making it, learning about it, and exploring every aspect of it. MuFeed Nutrition is not only my passion, but what I feel very deeply is: my true calling. I am a food enthusiast and this site is a space where I share my love for food with the world. (you can find more about food on my Journal: The Feed.)

Over the course of my life I have come to appreciate and learn that health is so much more than the absence of disease. Health is a journey about flourishing, and when tended to, allows us to tap into our fullest potential and our inherent resilience. This perspective did not come out of nowhere. I spent my later years of post-secondary not only studying nutrition and health, but also advocating for better supports for students’ mental and physical wellbeing. For 5+ years I worked in health promotion offices supporting projects and people with the goal of improving health. What I learned is that personalized supports are desperately needed and ensuring that our bodies’ biochemistry and functions are set up for success is crucial. Beyond my obvious poetic love for food is a deeper admiration for the power it holds to transform our bodies. Our bodies crave nourishment, but sometimes there are valid emotional, mental, physical, financial, and environmental barriers or challenges that prevent us from navigating our health appropriately.

After my fair share of injury, dis-ease and pain, I decided to combine the theory and experience I had of learning health with an internalized and dedicated personal practice to improve my overall health. From there I began to notice and deeply appreciate the changes I witnessed with my body. Learning nutrition knowledge is different than executing and practicing it deeply.

I am dedicated to building a world where community can come together to elevate and nurture the relationship we all have to food. I do my part by helping humans soulfully and holistically cultivate their relationship with food so they are empowered to nurture themselves and others! If you are interested in working with me or have any questions, you can reach out here.

I am a graduate of the Institute for Integrative Nutrition and am a certified Integrative Nutrition Health Coach (INHC). I am also an Environmental studies student (at the University of Alberta, in Edmonton) where my studies concentrate on the crossroads of where food meets society. I am a student of life, for life and I continue to closely study the science and art of health, environmental studies, agriculture, nutrition, people and culinary arts to ensure that I bring evidence-based approaches when helping my clients. Check out some of the people, books, and content that inspire me on the daily here.
