My Hunting Story Featured on CBC! 🦌🍴

I am thrilled to share some exciting news with all of you! Recently, my hunting journey was featured on CBC (!!!!) , shedding light on my unique approach to food sourcing and connection with nature. It's an incredible honour to have my story showcased by such a reputable media outlet, and I am grateful for the opportunity to share my experiences with a wider audience. You can read the full article on the CBC website here.

For those who may not know me, my name is Fatima, and I am a certified health and food educator deeply passionate about holistic nourishment and environmental sustainability. My hunting journey began as a reflective response to a series of transformative experiences, including a devastating forest fire in Northern Alberta and a soul-searching backcountry fishing trip in the California mountains. You can read more about What the Flopping Fish Taught me here.

These experiences prompted me to question my eating habits and food-sourcing practices, leading me to embark on a journey of hunting white-tail deer in Alberta's stunning landscape. Through this journey, I discovered a profound connection to the land, the wildlife, and the food on my plateβ€”a connection that has fundamentally shaped my approach to food and life.

Following the publishing of my story on CBC, I have been invited to several engagement opportunities to share more about hunting as a sustainable food sourcing and nature-connecting activity. In these sessions, I strive to explore themes of women empowerment, nutrition, and food ethics/security, rooted in my reflective journey. It's about challenging stereotypes, embracing vulnerability, and fostering community around these important conversations.

Having my story featured on CBC has been a humbling experience, but more importantly, it has provided a platform to amplify the message of mindful food consumption and environmental stewardship. I hope that my story inspires others to reflect on their relationship with food and nature and to consider the impact of their choices on the world around them.

I am deeply grateful to CBC for shining a spotlight on my journey, and am particularly thankful to Alan (my hunting mentor feat. in the video), and to Christina Ryan (CBC Journalist) for covering my story. I look forward to continuing to share my experiences and insights with all of you.

Thank you for your support and encouragement.

Please stay tuned for chapter II of my hunting story.

Stay Hungry,

Fatima.
